i guess that means I have to search for and update a whole lot of the links...
(And I haven't figured out an easy way to include icons, yet... )

I now have forms to use when adding Site news, Gadgetman news, Book reviews, Links and link categories. As I no longer have to manually update the MySQL databases, I no longer have any excuse not to add my link collection...

I got my site approved as a J-list affiliate site. So please click on the ridiculously large banner to visit them and buy all kinds of cool stuff! (I get a small bonus for every purchase, not for every click-through) And yes, I shop there regularly.

Building the pages to showcase my computers have shown me one thing: that no two computers are created equal.
One example: I figured that a simple text field or three should be enough to cower all power supply options, but no... The MC400 needed 5(!) lines. That screwed up the page design. I've ended up with moving that information into a separate table and to format a table dynamically, based on how many rows are in the table... And I still haven't found a GOOD way to handle displays or storage...

Finally made file uploads work, so I can easily add pictures to the computer pages. Only added one so far... But it's better than nothing, right?

I think I finally cracked the secret of making semy-dynamic tables for the computer pages. Next up: Books and links related to the specific computers. And maybe I'll even add a 'comment' form on the bottom of each page. (Which will log IP of course. Probably need to set up a form to 'approve' or delete comments, too. Possibly even learn how to make the server send me an email every time someone posts a comment, too, but that's for the far off future.)

Fixed a bit of scripting so that I can now finally add extra pages for the computer-descriptions in the Gadgetman section. That means I no longer have any excuse not to port most of the computer-descriptions from my old site...

That's right, my scripts logs all IP-addresses and I have been busy alerting abuse and support-departments around the world. It may be time to write a short article on tracking SPAMMERS, though...

No article on tracking SPAM, but now the Auto-ban functions work on most of the site... (Will only ban those who misuse the comment function, yet. Next is site downloaders and misbehaving searchrobots)

Started moving the Programming School section from the old site. Also fixed a few typos in those pages...
(I still need to add a comment system for that section, though)
Internally in the pages, I have extracted the menu bars and placed them in separate files, reducing the size of all pages(on the server) with about .5KB. This will make it much easier for me to add a new section in the future as I only need to update one file to publish it.

Well... My auto-banning scripts seems to work as a spammer tried to use my Comment scipt to send crap at about 11:35 CET today...
It may be the same dork who tried to use the email form on my contact me page, too...

Added a 'list of shame' page, listing the IPs that are banned from this site, and the reason why. It also links to NWTools.com so that anyone can read where the spammer is, and which ISP he used. The fact that email-harvesting robots might pick up a lot of administrative and abuse addresses, well... that's THEIR problem...
2006-08-01:
Gosh, new content added to the site. This time it's pages for computer accessories. They can only be reached from the pages of those computers they belong to, though. (Anything else would be too easy.) Oh, and I haven't begun adding pictures to them, yet. (Or a script so that I don't have to add them manually using PHPMyAdmin) I'm also preparing to list wanted computers, mainly because I own a few accessories for computers I don't yet own.
