Casio SF-8000

OverviewUsage
There are no pictures available for this page. Maybe later?

An abridged user manual. Please excuse me if there are mistakes on this page, but I had the choice of a Swedish or Italian user manual...
I have't bothered with all the boring stuff about inserting or changeing the batteries and all that.

Before starting to use this machine, please study thee two rows of special keys, one on top of the keyboard, and one below the screen:

(Taken in the order I decide :-)

CLEAR
If you can't guess what this is for, you won't be able to use it anyhow...
And the CLEAR is to clear the screen...
OFF That should be the rule for this button too, but since the machine auto powers off after 6 minutes of idle time, you can make do without knowing.
TEL This calls up the telephone registry.

Space for a picture showing the keyboard with all the accented characters marked in.

The character in the lower left corner is the 'normal' character,
the character at the top left corner is the 'capitalized' character, and can be acheived by first pushing one of the yellow [Shift] buttons or use the [Caps] button to lock it in this mode.
The symbol at the lower righthand corner is acheived by first pressing the [Code] button.
The symbol at the upper righthand corner can be acheived by first pressing [Shift], then [code] before pressing the key.

Inputting text and navigating in it

Time display

Using the telephone registry

This register have these fields defined: FREE 1
~
FREE 6
NAME
NUMBER
ADDRESS

Inputing data

Recalling records

There are two different views available, a list and record based.

Alphabetical search

This is really, just browsing the register, not searching...

Direct search for records

This search looks at the NAME field of every record.

Text based search

This type of search looks at all text in the records.

Combined search

Searching using two text strings.

Text based combined search

After finding a record using the other methods, and bringing it up, pressing [SHIFT] and [\/] will bring up the next record without the need to return to the list view.

Using the Business card registry

This register have these fields defined: FREE 1
~
FREE 6
EMPLOYER
NAME
TEL NUMBER
POSITION
DEPARTMENT
P.O. BOX
ADDRESS
TELEX NUMBER
FAX NUMBER
Mostly, this register works the same as the Telephone register, but we now have 3 different views; List of EMPLOYERs, List of person NAMEs, and the Record view.

Usage is the same as in the Telephone register.

Using Memo

Memo records are free text notes, and can be up to 384 characters including new-line symbols.

Inputting information

Searching is done the same way as for the Telephone register, so I won't repeat that here, but I can say that it uses two views, Record, and List view where the list consists of the first line of each Memo. It is therefore a good idea to write a short, but good description or title on the first line.

Inserting a record between two other records

Ordinarily, all new records are appended to the end of the list, but sometimes you want to insert it between two other records.

Using the Calendar

The calendar is valid from Januar 1901 to december 2099. The program displays two months at a time on the screen.

When you first press [CALENDAR], you get the current month(based on HOME TIME), and subsequent presses results in stepping forward one month at a time.

Jumping to a specific month

Please note that you can give the day also, resulting in the day flshing in the calendar view.
(Press [CALENDAR] or [NEXT] to stop it flashing)

To scroll forwards one month, either press [CALENDAR] or [\/], and to scroll back one month, press [/\]. To scroll two months(a full screen), first press [SHIFT], then either [/\] or [\/].

Selecting a date

There are two ways of selecting a date;
Using navigation keys: Or by typing:

Marking special days

You can mark days with special meaning, preferably holidays and suchlike since you can't add text to it.

Unmarking the marked days i a month

For some reason or another, you may need to unmark a holiday or something. (Your boss called and told you that you can't have the week off because he is leaving for Aruba and needs someone to mind the office)

Unmarking the marked days i a row of months

For some reason, this function will not allow you to define a START date, but assumes that you want to remove all marks from Jan. 1901 to the month you type in.

Calculating workdays

Sometimes it's nice to know how many workdays you have left until the deadline, vacation or whatever...

Using the Scheduler

Note:
  • Comments will not be visible until I manually OK them.
  • You don't need to give an email address if you don't want to. But if you do, you decide whether or not it is visible. (No addresses will be given to third-parties, it's only there to make it easier for me to get back to you)
  • This script WILL log your IP adress.
  • Profanities, 'L337' speak, links to unrelated stuff like Pr0n and online gambling will result in your IP being banned, a message being sent to your ISP and anything else nasty I can think of...
  • Suspicious HTML in the comments field will also cause me to give you hell.
  • While I don't have any user registration here, that's no reason to use a 'nick' belonging to someone else.
