Yes, the name is correct, it's both a printer and a plotter. Or rather, it's a plotter that can pretend to be a printer.
It's connected to a C-64 or Vic-20 using the 'VIC serial interface'. As the 1520 only have one port, it must be the last in the chain, though, and can not work together with the 1525 Printer. The 1525 is Hardcoded to ID '6' on the serial bus.
Mechanically, this unit uses 4 small ball-point pens held in a small drum, which can be rotated to bring the correct pen to the top(plotting position).
